Kaua'i is as rich in historical and cultural treasure as it is in its agricultural bounty. Hanalei Spirits is a craft distillery dedicated to producing premium spirits while using as much Kauai-sourced ingredients as possible. By using produce grown on our family farm to working with farmers island wide, it allows us to capture the distinct flavor of our island’s abundant bounty. We hope to do our small part to help maintain a healthier balance between Hawaii’s rich history in agriculture and our dependence upon visitors. Small steps like these can help keep Kauai our “garden island” a unique and sustainable island home.
Our Story
A completely family owned and operated craft distillery on the north shore of Kauai.
For us, the decision to venture into the craft spirit industry was made over a beer. We knew Mount Waiʻaleʻale produced some of the purest water in the world, ideal for making spirits. That coupled with our islands rich agricultural history spurred our creativity. From that point forward, our family or ‘Ohana as we like to say it in Hawaii, has been enthusiastically committed to developing spirits to share with you.

The Farm
Our farm is situated on property that has its roots in
sugarcane. The town of Kilauea grew up around the
Kilauea Plantation Mill and a number of distinctive
stone buildings, using local stone, still remain from
the plantation days. In the 1980’s, the family farm
was one of the biggest thoroughbred Breeding
Farms in the state of Hawaii and for the past
18 years has been dedicated to growing
endangered hardwood timber. Among the many
varieties we proudly grow, are the threatened
Brazilian Rosewood and the Honduran Mahogany.
As the hardwood trees are farmed, we have also
begun expanding our farm. We are planting
and growing Ti leaf, Lilikoi, Kalo, and Ginger. All
ingredients that will be used to craft our island spirits.
